Indigenous education in Manitoba schools is a set of policies, programs, and resources that aim to support the academic success and cultural inclusion of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit students. Some of the key initiatives and developments in this area are:
- Mamàhtawisiwin: The Wonder We Are Born With, a new policy framework launched in 2022 that provides guidelines and tools for schools to implement Indigenous education and truth and reconciliation across the curriculum and the school community.
- The elders and knowledge keepers in schools initiative a program that brings Indigenous elders and knowledge keepers into classrooms to share their wisdom, histories, cultures, and languages with students and educators.
- The Indigenous Languages and Cultures curriculum framework a document that outlines the learning outcomes and standards for teaching and learning Indigenous languages and cultures in Manitoba schools.
- The Indigenous Inclusion Directorate, a branch of the Manitoba Education and Early Childhood Learning that provides leadership, support, and resources for Indigenous education and inclusion in the province.
